As we inch closer to embarking on our grand adventure, the construction of our custom travel truck is making significant progress towards completion at Twiga.
Here's the latest update on what's been happening with our rig:
Electronics Installation: The back of the truck now houses the core of our electronic setup, including state-of-the-art lithium batteries, MPPTs (Maximum Power Point Trackers), and inverters. These essential components are key to powering our mobile home efficiently and sustainably.
Living Space Configuration: The front of the truck has been transformed into a cozy "lounge" area, designed for relaxation and comfort. This space is becoming the heart of our living quarters, where we can unwind after a day of exploration.
Creating Connections: A crucial development has been the construction of a passage between the driver's cab and the living cab. This feature will enhance the accessibility and functionality of our living space, making it feel more like a home.
Innovative TV Mechanism: We've installed a clever mechanism that allows the TV to slide behind the lounge backrest. This not only saves space but also keeps the living area sleek and tidy when the screen is not in use.
Ambient Lighting: Above the wall storage units, we've added indirect lighting, which provides a warm, inviting glow to the interior, enhancing the ambiance and making the space cozy during the evenings.
Truck Modifications: On the technical side, the truck itself is nearly ready. We've made some significant modifications, including shortening the wheelbase to 4.2 meters for better maneuverability and switching to single tires for improved performance.
Striking Colors: Both the truck and the cabin have been painted in a stunning ruby red, giving our vehicle a bold and beautiful appearance. Currently, I'm in discussions about the final design touches, which will involve a custom foil wrap to complete the look of our truck.
As the build nears completion, our excitement to hit the road grows stronger each day. In the meantime, we're channeling our wanderlust into frequent motorbike trips and binge-watching netflix Bridgerton on Netflix.
