Northern Lights, Balkan Bites, and Icelandic Dreams
Our Nordkapp tour tested life on the road. We ferried from Travemünde to Helsinki and spent 40 days in Finland and Norway. The Arctic pushed us, but reaching mainland Europe’s northernmost point, and seeing the Northern Lights, made it worth it for us.
Our three-month Balkan run was full of contrast: Durmitor’s peaks, the Tara Canyon, and stunning terrain ideal for overland travel. Every pass left us quiet. Not everything was perfect; forests near popular spots were strewn with trash, a reminder that many are focused on getting by before protecting nature.
Food was another highlight: rich flavors, fresh ingredients, warm, generous hospitality. Some meals were unforgettable; others simple and good. The Balkans became a favorite leg.
At last we reached the island we had dreamed of. Iceland gave us lava fields, black beaches, glacial tongues, and hot springs fogging the windows before sunrise. We kept to marked tracks and took our time. Iceland’s grandeur is fragile, so we tried to tread lightly and leave places better.
Now it’s time to swap moss for markets and arctic light for warm evenings. We’re pointing the rig toward Iberia, with slow miles through the Pyrenees, salty days along the Atlantic, and sandy scenes in Almería, then crossing to Morocco for coastal tracks, high passes, friendly tea, and sunrise photos.

Next stop - Morocco!
Iberia calls with cliffs, cork oak, and sea spray. Morocco waits with mint tea, mountain pistes, and bright mornings.
Spain comes first. We will thread the Pyrenees, linger on the north coast, and slide south toward Andalusia. Expect quiet coves, white villages, and olive country. Where tracks are open we will take gravel. Where they are closed we will enjoy the road and the view. Then we cross to Morocco, the Middle Atlas, and the Anti Atlas. We will look for legal tracks, small towns, and friendly tea stops.
We travel slow to earn our photos and to meet people. We buy local, pack out trash, and leave places tidy. Our big rig is a privilege. We will try to give you stories, simple tips, and scenes that make you breathe a little deeper.
See you on the coast, in the passes, and in the souks.

Long Term Plans have changed.
We have just wrapped our journey across Iceland's raw landscapes of lava, ice, and wind. Now we continue south through France and Spain, before crossing into Morocco. From there, we will make our way back home in time for Christmas, ready to recharge and reflect before the next chapter begins.
Our plans for the coming year have shifted. Instead of heading to North America, we have chosen to dive deeper into Eastern Europe, traveling through the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria, with the goal of reaching the eastern regions of Turkey. This revised route promises a rich tapestry of cultures, landscapes, and stories, with new adventures awaiting us at every turn.

Combating Travel Fatigue with Friendship
As we gear up for our epic journey, we've taken inspiration and insights from seasoned travelers like Yoda Travels, La Vagabonde, and Itchy Boots. A common challenge they face is travel fatigue. We think this stems from a lack of deep, enduring relationships while on the road.
Reconnecting with friends worldwide.
Our previous professional careers blessed us with colleagues who became friends scattered across various destinations on our itinerary.
By planning to meet at least one friend each month during our travels, we aim to enrich our journey with meaningful interactions and prevent the sense of isolation that can come from long-term travel. We hope this approach not only refreshes our spirits but also deepens our connections, making every part of our adventure even more rewarding.
